County receives John A. Sasso Award
Union County recently received the John A. Sasso Award in recognition for exemplary utilization of Community Development Block Grant Funds in low- and moderate-income and urban communities.
To be eligible for the award, applicants must give evidence, usually based on past programs, that the commitment exists to improve the lives of its lower income residents.
Union County's distribution of Community Development Block Grant Funds have supported such programs as The Center for Hope Hospice, the Cerebral Palsy League, and more.
Named for the founder of the National Community Development Association, the John A. Sasso Award was one of five national awards given at the association's annual meeting June 21 in San Francisco.
